Communication and interaction in the workplace are becoming increasingly significant within organisations. Within an engineering environment, this is particularly important, with a multitude of expertise and technical knowledge from a variety of disciplines required to ensure the successful production of a product.
This paper outlines three practices that can be implemented by an organisation in order to initiate and maintain good teamworking practices. Drawing on elements of concurrent engineering, virtual teaming and emotional intelligence, where appropriate, is believed to provide an improvement in productivity, foster effective working relationships and maintain a good working environment.
